Jennie Crosby wins Physics Educator of the Year
Each year, the physics and physician residents nominate a physicist who has gone above and beyond to help teach and educate residents. This year, Jennie Crosby is the well-deserving recipient of the Physicist Educator of the Year award.
This year, the residents have unanimously agreed to re-honor Dr. Schuster as physician educator of the year. Thoughtful in approach and kind in demeanor, Dr. Schuster creates an environment where learners feel seen and supported.
In Memoriam: Dr. Dolores (Dee) Buchler, MD, DHO Faculty Member
Dolores Buchler passed away June 15th, 2025. She joined the UW Department of Human Oncology (DHO) faculty in 1969 and was a board certified Radiation Oncologist. With the help of physicists, she established a program of high dose rate brachytherapy for gynecology oncology.

I’m a dosimetry assistant in the radiotherapy department at University Hospital. I started as a radiation therapist for three years before transitioning to the treatment planning team in dosimetry last September.
In Memoriam: Dr. Richard Steeves, DHO Faculty Member
Emeritus faculty member Richard A. Steeves passed away April 20th, 2025 at the age of 87 years. He joined the UW Department of Human Oncology (DHO) faculty in 1980 and developed a robust radiation oncology practice.
