When, and how, did you develop an interest in the field of Medical Physics? I first learned about medical physics through the crossover programs that were offered between the engineering and medical physics departments during my time in the nuclear engineering program while earning my undergraduate degree. I met various faculty members in the department of human oncology and began taking some of the introductory medical physics courses. I became more and more interested over time and decided to pursue graduate school!
What attracted you to UW-Madison and the Department of Human Oncology? The entire department of human oncology at UW-Madison is full of amazing people who are passionate about the care they provide to patients, and they’re also great people to work alongside. It just made sense to me to stay here!
What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role? I’m looking forward to contributing to patient care as part of the brachytherapy team at the new Eastpark Medical Center, as well as spending time at our clinic in Johnson Creek. These are two locations I haven’t spent much time at yet, so it will all be new and exciting!
What hobbies or special activities do you enjoy outside of work? Once wintertime comes around I enjoy downhill skiing and I try to take several trips out west every season.
