Mustafa Basree, DO

Radiation Oncology Resident

Department of Human Oncology

I am a radiation oncology resident at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics and current ARRO Education Subcommittee member. I am excited for this opportunity and intend to serve as a conduit between ARRO/ASTRO and residents across the nation to ease transition into training and practice, provide resources to grow and develop professionally and to encourage advocacy on key priorities in our profession. Clinically, I thoroughly enjoy caring for and partnering with cancer patients. I remain involved in translational and clinical research to advance patient care. Moreover, I have a keen interest in medical education, public policy and health advocacy. I am an associate member of the American Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators serving as Residents and Fellows Council Membership Recruitment Chair. I am a member of AACOM’s Advisory Committee for Resilient Mindsets in Medicine Grant (HRSA-22-109) addressing burnout and mental health challenges in medical training. Previously, I was a member of my medical school’s Board of Trustees as Student Government President. In 2019, I was awarded ED to MED Outstanding Advocate of the Year Award presented by AACOM Government Relations office for our work advocating for protecting federal student loan programs. I hold an Osteopathic medical degree from Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as a masters of anatomy from The Ohio State University. I grew up in Baghdad, Iraq, and moved to the United States in 2009. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, biking and exploring new trails with my wife Michelle and dog, Eddy.
